With effect from April 3, 1844, the Legden mayor's office was converted into an office according to the rural community order for the province of Westphalia from October 31, 1841. At the same time were given parishes Legden Asbeck and the first time the status of a municipality .
From March 20, 1856 to October 31, 1934, the office was administered according to the rural community code for the province of Westphalia of March 19, 1856. On November 1, 1934, the official regulations for the Rhine Province and the Province of Westphalia of October 8, 1934 were introduced, which since August 1946 in conjunction with Section 124 of the German Municipal Code of January 30, 1935 in the version of Ordinance No. 21 of the military government for the British control area was continued. On March 11, 1953, the administrative order of March 10, 1953 was introduced in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , according to which the office was administered until 1969.
In 1913 the Legden office had an area of 55.74 km 2 . This year there were 3,413 Catholic , 24 Protestant and 9 Jewish residents . On January 1, 1951, the Legden office covered an area of 55.81 km 2 . The population was on September 13, 1950: 4,883. When it was dissolved, the office had 5,374 inhabitants on an area of 55.79 km 2 .
The mayor's office in Legden was initially headed provisionally by Baron Clemens von Oer auf Egelborg . Since 1844 the office was led by a bailiff . The previous mayor of Legden, Simonetti, was appointed as the first bailiff, and Baron von Oer, the owner of the Egelborg manor , was appointed as his representative . For 1913, Freiherr von Oer is mentioned as an honorary officer.
The Legden office was dissolved with effect from June 30, 1969. The newly formed municipality of Legden on July 1, 1969, into which the municipalities of Legden and Asbeck were incorporated, was designated as the legal successor. The new community also adopted the office's coat of arms.
