Ahaus is the seat of the Ahaus District Court , which is responsible for the cities of Ahaus, Stadtlohn and Vreden as well as for the communities of Heek , Legden and Schöppingen in the northern district of Borken . Around 105,000 people live in the 560 km² judicial district . The district court of Ahaus is also responsible for agricultural matters in the districts of Ahaus and Gronau (Westphalia).

Superior courts

The regional court overriding the Ahaus district court is the Münster regional court , which in turn is subordinate to the Hamm Higher Regional Court .
