Rheine is the seat of the Rheine District Court , which is responsible for the cities of Emsdetten and Rheine as well as for the community of Neuenkirchen in the Steinfurt district. Around 126,000 people live in the 265 km² judicial district .

Superior courts

The regional court overriding the Rheine District Court is the Münster Regional Court , which in turn is subordinate to the Hamm Higher Regional Court .
