Amow Cove

The Amow Cove is a bay on the south coast of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It is located on the west side of the entrance to Undine South Harbor .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2009. “Amow” is an acronym for “ A ll M y O wn W ork” ( English for “With my own hands”). The British polar explorer Duncan Carse (1913-2004) named a refuge he built on the shores of the bay in 1961, which was destroyed less than four months later by continuous waves.
