Amritapuri ( Malayalam അമൃതപുരി Amṛtapuri) is a village in Kerala in India about 120 km north of Thiruvananthapuram and 120 km south of Kochi . It is known through the Ashram of Mata Amritanandamayi . Originally the village was called Parayakadavu, which means something like Pariah Bank. The majority of the locals belong to the Arayan caste.
Amritapuri is home to the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham engineering college.
