AmstedMaxion is the largest manufacturer of freight wagons in South America with a market share of around 70%. The company has plants in Hortolândia and Cruzeiro .
AmstedMaxion was founded in 2000 as a joint venture between Amsted Industries and Iochpe-Maxion . It goes back to the Fabrica Nacional de Vagões founded in 1943 . Double-deck container wagons have also been manufactured since 2011 . In 2015 Greenbrier acquired a 19.5% stake in the Hortolândia plant.
