The Amsterdam Pirates are a baseball and softball team from Amsterdam . They were founded as a division of the football club Sport Vereniging RAP and were therefore called RAP Pirates in the early years .
The Pirates play in the Ookmeer Sports Park in Osdorp , in the west of Amsterdam.
history
The Amsterdam Pirates were founded in 1938 as the baseball division of the Sport Vereniging RAP football club. In 1967 they became an independent association. They won the Dutch professional league Honkbal Hoofdklasse in 1987 and 1990, as well as in 2008 and 2011. Most of the time, however, the club Neptunus Rotterdam from Rotterdam dominates there, with 18 titles already. For several years now, the Amsterdam Pirates have had a sponsorship agreement with the consulting company L&D, which is why they also bear the name L&D Amsterdam Pirates . In 2016 the team won the CEB European Cup for the first time .
