The Attendorn office was established in 1807 and existed until it was dissolved in 1969.

scope

The office emerged from the court of Attendorn, the court of Valbert, the patrimonial courts of Oedingen and Lenhausen and parts of the parish of Helden. It thus included the city of Attendorn, the later municipality of Attendorn-Land , the municipality of Helden and, with the western part of the municipality of Schönholthausen and the tax municipality of Fretter, also a considerable part of today's municipality of Finnentrop . Valbert was one of them from 1807 to 1823.

history

In 1807 the Attendorn office was established during the rule of Hesse-Darmstadt over the Duchy of Westphalia. It fell to Prussia in 1816 along with the rest of the duchy. In 1961 it had a size of 109.30 square kilometers 11,166 inhabitants. In 1969 the office was dissolved and divided between the cities of Attendorn, Olpe, Lennestadt and Finnentrop. The town of Attendorn became the legal successor to the Attendorn office.

administration

The former electoral gographer Gottfried Johanvars was appointed as the first bailiff of the new office. As a judicial officer, he was in charge of administration and jurisdiction.
