In the early modern period , offices were a level between the municipalities and the sovereignty . The functions of administration and jurisdiction were not separated here. The office was headed by a bailiff who was appointed by the rulers.

history

With the Rhine Confederation Act in 1806, the Wörth office of the Principality of Löwenstein-Wertheim became part of the Grand Duchy of Hesse and here the Province of Starkenburg . However, the Prince of Löwenstein-Wertheim continued to exercise sovereign rights in the area he had previously ruled; the state monopoly of force was divided here. The Grand Duchy of Hesse and the Kingdom of Bavaria signed a contract on June 30, 1816, with which various parts of the territory were exchanged. The Wörth office was ceded to Bavaria.
