Anaco is a major city in Venezuela in the Anzoátegui province .

The city was founded over 40 years ago. It is located near the El Tigre natural gas field and lives primarily from the state oil industry PDVSA . The deposits in this area are the largest in all of Latin America and significantly shape the economic orientation of the region.

In 1981 Anaco only had about 44,000 inhabitants, in 2005 it was almost three times as many with 117,605. It is connected to the transport network by the trunk road from El Tigre to Barcelona . Anaco also has an airport.
