Anacreonteus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Anakreonteus ( Latin anacreonteus ) is after the poet Anacreon named eight membered meter in ancient Greek Verslehre with the scheme

It goes through anaclasis of the fourth and fifth limbs from the ionic dimeter (io 2mi)

emerged. Sicking, however, contradicts this view and assumes an independent development of Anacreon.

Evidence can be found in Anakreon and in lyrical passages of the Attic tragedy.
