Ananda Sukarlan
Ananda Sukarlan (born June 10, 1968 in Jakarta ) is an Indonesian pianist .
Life
Sukarlan had piano lessons from an older sister as a child and attended the Jakarta Music School for six years. After graduating from the Jesuit Canisius High School , he studied from 1986 at the Walter Hautzig Conservatory in Hartford (Connecticut) .
He later went to the Netherlands to study at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague . After the cultural cooperation between the Netherlands and Indonesia was interrupted in 1993 and his scholarship was suspended, he took part in numerous competitions in order to finance his further studies, which he graduated summa cum laude in 1998 . Since then he has lived in Spain.
The focus of Sukarlan's repertoire is on the works of contemporary composers. Many Spanish composers, as well as his teacher Roderik de Man, dedicated compositions to him.
