The Anantasamakhom Throne Hall ( Thai พระที่นั่ง อนันต สมาคม - pronunciation: [ pʰráʔ tʰîː nâŋ ʔàʔnantàʔsàʔmaːkʰom ], also Ananta Samakhom or Ananda Samakhom Throne Hall ) is a throne and reception hall in the palace and government district of Dusit in Bangkok . It is part of the Dusit Palace .

The building in the style of the European Renaissance and Neoclassical was commissioned by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) in 1908 in order to be able to hold audiences in the Dusit Palace as well as in the Amarin Winichai Throne Hall of the Great Palace . As a name he chose "Phra Thi Nang Anantasamakhom" (Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall) after a throne hall of the Great Palace that had to be demolished. The foundation stone was laid on November 19, 1908 for the 40th anniversary of the king's throne. The throne hall was not completed until 1915 under Chulalongkorn's successor King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) .

The building measures 49.5 meters in width, 112.5 meters in length and 47.5 meters in height and is dominated by the large central dome, the facade is clad in Carrara marble . In addition to the two Thai site managers Chao Phraya Yommaraj (Pan Sukhum) and Phraya Prachakorn Kitvijarn (O Amatayakul), only Italian artists were represented in the building commission: the two architects Mario Tamagno and Annibale Rigotti, the assistant Carlo Allegri, the engineer EG Gallo and the two painters Galileo Chini and C. Riguli. The paintings inside show the great deeds of the (until then) six rulers of the Chakri dynasty .

From the "Siamese Revolution" in 1932, which brought about the transition to a constitutional monarchy, to the opening of the new parliament building in 1970, the Anantasamakhom Throne Hall was the seat of the Thai National Assembly . Since then, the ceremonial opening sessions of a new legislative period have taken place there.
