Anchorage Island (from English anchorage , anchorage ) is an approximately 1 km long and 500 m wide uninhabited island in Antarctica . It is located about 2 km northwest of Davis Station in the Vestfold Mountains off the Ingrid-Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land .
The island was first mapped by Norwegian cartographers using aerial photographs from the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . The name is derived from the ships that used the island as an anchorage to supply Davis Station.
