Andersen Worldwide

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andersen Worldwide Société Coopérative (AWSC) was the Switzerland- based holding company for the accounting firm Arthur Andersen and the management consultancy Andersen Consulting (now Accenture ).

history

The holding was founded in 1989 after the division into Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting due to delimitation conflicts between the business units of Andersen (auditing and consulting).

The fundamental conflicts of demarcation persisted, however, so that in 1997 the management consultancy Andersen Consulting officially sought to break away from the auditing company Arthur Andersen. In 2000 Andersen Consulting achieved the desired, complete separation of Andersen Worldwide and Arthur Andersen through an arbitration award from the International Chamber of Commerce . As a result of the award, Andersen Consulting changed its name to Accenture on January 1, 2001 .
