The company was originally a sister company of the auditor Arthur Andersen , who was involved in the Enron bankruptcy. The name change took place after the company lost the rights to the Andersen name in 2000 as part of its complete separation. The new name Accenture is an artificial word from Accent on the future .

After being converted into a public company, Accenture has been listed on the NYSE ( New York Stock Exchange ) under the symbol "ACN" since July 19, 2001 . To the Board include, among others Wulf of mold man , the former CEO of Postbank . Since September 1, 2009, the group has been operating as a stock corporation under Irish law and at the same time relocated its headquarters from the Bermuda Islands to Dublin.

Consultant affair

In the course of the consultant affair with the Bundeswehr , Accenture is accused of nepotism and possible fraud. While advising the German Armed Forces in 2017, Accenture is said to have billed two consulting hours for IT projects. This was initially not noticed because different authorities were involved in the corresponding framework agreements. Accenture is said to have billed at least 25,000 euros too much due to the wrong invoices. Accenture denies the allegations of fraud and wants to refund the amount. Since February 14, 2019, an investigative committee of the Bundestag has been investigating Accenture and the management consultancy McKinsey .
