The Kraft Heinz Company is an American , global food group that was formed in 2015 from the merger of Kraft Foods and the HJ Heinz Company . According to its own information, the company is the fifth largest food producer in the world. The company has two headquarters in Chicago and Pittsburgh .

With a turnover of 26.5 billion US dollars and a profit of 11.1 billion US dollars, Kraft Heinz ranks 126th among the world's largest companies according to Forbes Global 2000 (as of FY 2017). The company had a market capitalization of approximately $ 30 billion in June 2019.

The group was created on July 2, 2015 from a merger of the US food manufacturer Kraft Foods Group and the HJ Heinz Company .

The Kraft Foods Group was formed in 2012 by splitting the Kraft Foods Inc group into two companies: Mondelēz International Inc. and Kraft Foods Group . Kraft Foods Inc was a successor to the company founded in 1903 by James Lewis Kraft in Chicago.

The HJ Heinz Company goes back to the Heinz, Noble & Company company founded by Henry John Heinz in 1869 .

In March 2015, plans to merge the two companies with the help of investor Warren Buffett became known. The merger was completed on July 2, 2015. Buffett now holds 27 percent of Kraft Heinz's stock.

In February 2017, Kraft Heinz made a takeover offer of 143 billion US dollars for the British-Dutch consumer goods manufacturer Unilever , which, however, turned it down.

In February 2017, the share price was at a record high of $ 97, and in April 2019 it was down $ 33. In the same month, the Board of Directors appointed Miguel Patricio as the new CEO from July 1, 2019.

Brands

A total of over 200 brands are produced and sold. The company's best-known brands are Kraft (including Philadelphia ) and Heinz (tomato ketchup).
