Power plants

The company owns a total of 71 power plants with a capacity of 16,042 MW , of which 18 are coal-fired , 17 gas-fired and 27 hydropower plants . Nine percent of the energy generated in 2007 was obtained from renewable energies , of which wind energy accounted for 2700 MW, a value that is to be increased to 7400 MW by 2020.

The two nuclear power plants Monticello and Prairie Island also belong to the company.
