The company's US headquarters is located in Winona in the US state of Minnesota ; the European subsidiary Fastenal Europe is headquartered in Brno in the Czech Republic.

history
In 1967, Bob Kierlin founded the first Fastenal business in his hometown of Winona with four friends and $ 30,000 in starting capital. Four years later, the second store was opened, and others followed. In 1982, the in-house production of special parts for customers began. Five years later, the company went public. In 1993, sales reached the US $ 100 million mark. One year after Fastenal became a sponsor of NASCAR , the 2000th store was opened in Seattle in 2007 , after the 1000th store had only opened in 2001 in Kapolei . Today Fastenal has over 2,600 stores worldwide.
