Simon Property Group is a real estate company from the United States , headquartered in Indianapolis , Indiana . The company was founded in 1993 by the Bronx- born brothers Herbert "Herb" (* 1934) and Melvin "Mel" Simon (1926 - 2009) and is listed in the S&P 500 stock index.

The company is active in the sale and management of real estate. Simon Property Group is the largest shopping mall operator in the USA, and SPG also holds 22.2% of the shares in the French group Klépierre SA , which is Europe's second largest operator of shopping centers.

Herbert Simon is the owner of the Indiana Pacers NBA team .
