prehistory

On September 1, 2017, the two chemical companies Dow Chemical and EI du Pont de Nemours and Company merged with the aim of merging the company into the three business areas of Agriculture (agrochemicals), Materials Science (plastics) and Specialty Products (specialty chemicals) and each as an independent company to spin off. Today's Dow, Inc. goes back in part to The Dow Chemical Company.

Dow, Inc.

Dow, Inc. was formed on April 1, 2019 as a spin-off of the Materials Science division of DowDuPont. Each DowDuPont shareholder received one Dow share for every three DowDuPont shares he held.

On October 9, 2019, a garnishment and transfer order was issued for Dow, Inc.'s direct equity stake in Dow Olefinverbund GmbH . This is because a court in France has accepted the lawsuit of 1245 banana farmers who were harmed by the active ingredient 1,2-dibromo-3-chloropropane .
