Lətif Hüseynov

Lətif Hüseynov (born February 1, 1964 in Ağdam , Azerbaijani SSR ) is an Azerbaijani lawyer and judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

Hüseynov studied law at the University of Kiev , where he obtained his diploma in international law in 1986. From 1988 he worked as a research assistant at the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan . In 1990 he moved to Baku State University as a lecturer . In 1994 he received his PhD from Kiev University. iur. PhD. In 1996 he became an associate professor at Baku University. In 2000, Hüseynov completed his habilitation at the University of Kiev and in the following year became full professor of international public law. In the same year he became head of the constitutional law department of the Azerbaijani parliament . In 2003 he also became a member of the Venice Commission . He also became a member of the CPT in 2004 and President in 2011 .

At the end of 2016, Hüseynov was elected as the successor to Xanlar Hacıyev as representative of Azerbaijan as judge at the European Court of Human Rights . He took up his term of office, which is expected to last until 2026, on January 4, 2017.
