history

A prehistoric settlement is evidenced by the large stone grave in Ohrensen . On January 11, 1105, Ohrensen was first mentioned in a document by Adela von Katlenburg from the Katlenburg monastery as an order . On July 17, 1664, the fulling mill on Tiefenbach was first mentioned in a document. It was leased by the Hagedorn family for centuries. Due to a severe storm in 1907, it could no longer be operated.

In the First World War, seven soldiers died from Ohrensen, in World War II seventeen. Today the mill belongs to the district of Stade and is used as a youth facility. In 2005, Ohrensen celebrated its 900th anniversary .

Regional affiliation

Before 1885, Ohrensen belonged to Börde Bargstedt in the district of Harsefeld , after 1885 to the district of Stade and since 1932 to today's district of Stade . In the course of the community reform , Ohrensen was incorporated into Bargstedt on July 1, 1972.

coat of arms

Blazon : The coat of arms of Ohrensen showsa large mountainon a blue background in the base of the shield and in the middle two crossed silver sword blades and four golden rose petals.

Meaning: The sword blades stand for the Saxon sword that Martin Mushard found over 300 years ago. The rose petals come from the Harsefeld coat of arms . The mountain in the shield foot stands for the wall of the Ohrensburg and the blue background is taken from the Stade coat of arms.

The current coat of arms was designed by the heraldist Horst Scheffler in 2005. Before that, Ohrensen also had a coat of arms that showed a defense tower and a palisade as a symbol for the Ohrensburg . That was rejected because nothing is known about the appearance of the Ohrensburg castle and it probably had no defense towers and palisades.
