St. Primus Bargstedt

The Protestant village church St. Primus is a church building in Bargstedt in the district of Stade ( Lower Saxony ).

history

A church in Bargstedt is mentioned for the first time in 1233 .

In 1793 a devastating fire destroyed 34 other buildings as well as the church tower and roof structure .

Building history

The current church, built in 1801 and inaugurated on September 21, 1802 by Pastor Kerstens, was initially without a tower and had a belfry in the churchyard .

The tower, built in 1867, was demolished during the renovation in 1954/58 due to significant defects. The new tower with three bells was consecrated on December 14, 1958 .

Renovation work took place again until 1972. In 1974 the church received a fourth bell.

In 1993 a new parish hall was built and in 2008 the altar wall was redesigned.

On 5 September 2010, the celebrated parish their 777 anniversary. The church is dedicated to St. Consecrated to Primus .

The church stands out because of its stone masonry .

Interior

In the semicircle, the chairs are facing the south wall, where the altar is located and a figure of Christ hangs from the ceiling. The crucifix and chandelier were made by Klaus Luckey from Hamburg.

Two more stained glass windows will complement the altar area in the future. They were designed in 2008 by the artist Bettina Krusche from Bremen .

In the adjoining room, the hall of honor, there is a stained glass window that was created by Charles Crodel from Munich in the 1970s .

Bells

In the church tower has four bells. Three are from 1958, one from 1974.

Today the church Bargstedt belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish St. Primus Bargstedt of the church district Buxtehude in Sprengel Stade of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover with the villages Bargstedt, Ohrensen with pleasure Hoop and Franken Moor , Brest , Hollenbeck with small Hollenbeck , Issendorf , Kakerbeck with Kakerbeck -Doosthof and Bockholt , Oersdorf with Kohlenhausen , Reith with Bredenbeck and Klein-Reith and Wohlerst with Klein Wohlerst .

The Ahlerstedt church used to be a branch church of Bargstedt.
