history
Prehistory and early history
A prehistoric settlement can be proven by the Rillenstein from Hollenbeck . There are also several barrows from the Stone and Bronze Ages to the north and northwest of the village .
middle Ages
Hollenbeck was first mentioned in a document in 1536. At that time there were 13 farms here. The place is probably named after the brook Hollenbeeke , which flows through the village and flows into the floodplain . During the Thirty Years War, the village became impoverished and came under Swedish rule until 1718.
Modern times
After 1718 Hollenbeck was placed under the Hanover government . In 1790 the Hollenbeck farmers had to cede the Braken , 6300 acres of forest, to the state for no consideration. After frequently changing government, Hollenbeck came to Prussia in 1866 .
20th century
In a total of three major fires around 1900, almost all of the old hall houses were destroyed. In 1937 a sports field and a bathing facility were built between Hollenbeck and Bargstedt. In the 1960s, two new housing estates were built in the village.
The village school ceased operations in 1975; the children have been taught in Harsefeld ever since. In the old village school there is now a kindergarten and the village community center , which was renamed the Wilhelm-Nack-Haus in 2017 . Wilhelm Nack was a teacher at the school in the 20th century.
