Bargstedt ( Low German Bars ) is a municipality in the Stade district in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

Bargstedt is located on the Stader Geest , a beech and oak- wooded Geest ridge , on a settlement axis in the metropolis of Hamburg . The floodplain and side valleys nature reserve is located in the municipality, the floodplain flows through the municipality

Community structure

The municipality of Bargstedt consists of two districts . These are the villages of Bargstedt and Ohrensen . The village of Lusthoop and the Frankenmoor nature reserve are also in the municipality.

history

Local history

The cluster village of Bargstedt probably emerged as the center of a parish from a pagan cult site . Due to power struggles of the aristocratic rule, the Ohrensburg was built around 1200 on the Tiefenbach in Ohrensen .

After the church fire in 1793, a new church was built, which was completed in 1801.

The fulling mill in the district of Ohrensen am Tiefenbach was built around 1700, but was decommissioned in 1907 and is now used as a meeting place for young people.

Regional affiliation

Before 1885 Bargstedt belonged to Börde Bargstedt in the district of Harsefeld , after 1885 to the district of Stade and since 1932 to today's district of Stade .

Place name

Old names: 1233 Bergstede.

The spelling of the place name changed in the Middle Ages from Bergstede and Berckstede to Bargstedt . This is based on a Middle Low German sound change from -er- to -ar- . The meaning of the place name is to be understood as a mountain site, i.e. a settlement on the mountain , which fits the location of the place.

Incorporation, outsourcing

On July 1, 1972, the neighboring community of Ohrensen was incorporated. On the same day, a part of the area with then around 100 inhabitants was assigned to the Harsefeld patch . from 1964 to 1972 Bargstedt was the main town of the integrated community of Bargstedt .

Blazon : The coat of arms of the municipality of Bargstedt shows in the form of a shield on a blue background an upwardly arched foot in green . The green sign foot of the crest is a cross right directional sword in silver occupied. A baptismal font stands on the base of the shield, raisedby a three-leaved branch of linden tree . Both the baptismal font and the linden branch are silver.

Meaning: The upward arching base of the shield is intended to indicate the part of the name Barg . The spelling of the place name has changed since the early Middle Ages: from Bergstede or Berckstede to today's Bargstedt.

In Bargstedt, the Christmas market is always celebrated on the first Advent at the church .

Buildings

The Protestant Church of St. Primus is a hall building completed in 1801, the tower of which was replaced by a bell tower in 1959. The stained glass window by Charles Crodel in the hall of honor, completed in 1970, is remarkable .

Also worth seeing is the fulling mill in the district of Ohrensen .
