Hollern-Twielenfleth ( Low German : Hullern-Twielenfleth ) is a municipality in the Stade district in Lower Saxony . The community belongs to the joint community Lühe , which has its administrative seat in the community of Steinkirchen .
geography
The community is located in the Altes Land , the largest fruit-growing area in Europe, directly on the Lower Elbe between Stade and Hamburg . In addition to the two districts of Hollern (coordinates) and Twielenfleth (coordinates) there is a third one, Bassenfleth (coordinates) .
history
In 1059 the town of Twielenfleth was founded. The communities Hollern and Twielenfleth merged in January 1967 under the name Hollern. Twielenfleth has been a citizenry since 1976 and has been committed to the preservation of the place name Twielenfleth ever since. On July 1, 1984 the community was renamed Hollern-Twielenfleth. In 2009 there was a big 950th anniversary celebration.

In split shields of silver and red, over a green shield base, in it a silver river in undulations. At the top left a red defense tower, covered with gold, on the right a silver beacon.
The defense tower in the coat of arms is Hollern's landmark. The beacon stands for Twielenfleth and marks the part of the municipality for river traffic. The silver river through the green marsh stands for the Elbe.

Economy and Infrastructure

Hazardous materials shipping company Pape is located in Hollern-Speersort. In hazardous material storage can be stored for up to 22,000 t.
The "Altes Land" holiday village, to which around 155 holiday homes belong, in the immediate vicinity of the Elbe, is particularly important for tourism.

In the municipality of Hollern-Twielenfleth, the bus line 2357 Stade - Hollern-Twielenfleth - Steinkirchen - Jork - Hamburg-Cranz operated by KVG Stade and several company and school-related bus lines, all of which are connected to the Hamburg transport association. The place extends largely along the Obstmarschenweg , which connects the communities on the Lower Elbe.
