Sauensiek ( Low German Sounsiek ) is a municipality in the south of the Stade district in Lower Saxony near Hamburg .

Geographical location
In the municipality of Sauensiek, the Litberg is the highest point in the Stade district. It has a height of 65 m above sea level and is designated as a landscape protection area.
Neighboring communities
In the north of the municipality of Sauensiek are the municipalities of Beckdorf and Apensen , which also belong to the joint municipality of Apensen . In the west, the municipality of Sauensiek borders on the combined municipality of Harsefeld with the municipalities of Ahlerstedt and Harsefeld . The Harburg district begins in the east . The neighboring communities of Regesbostel , Holvede and Halvesbostel are all in the joint community of Hollenstedt . The district of Rotenburg (Wümme) can be found in the south . This is where the communities of Wohnste and Vierden (both of which are Sittensen ) border the community of Sauensiek.

Sauensiek is made up of three districts. In addition to the main town of Sauensiek, which also includes Löhe, Bredenhorn and Bockhorst, these are the villages of Wiegersen and Revenahe-Kammerbusch .

Sports
Sport is very important in the Sauensiek community. There are football pitches in all parts of the village, and some volleyball pitches as well. In Sauensiek there is a gymnastics room in the village community center that can be used by sports clubs. In Sauensiek you will also find the natural pool, which is operated by the natural pool association. The sponsoring association Sport Wiegersen, formerly a division of the sponsoring association Kornscheune, maintains the sports hall in Wiegersen , which is also available for associations in the community. - Road: State road 130 leads through the Sauensiek district. It also serves as a feeder for Autobahn 1 . The district of Kammerbusch is crossed by the state road 127.
- Railway: The nearest train station is in Apensen, 7 km away . In Buxtehude (14 km), however, there is a better train service (S-Bahn). Until 1968 there was also a train station in Beckdorf (3 km from Sauensiek) on the Buchholz-Hollenstedt-Harsefeld line.
- Bus: Sauensiek is connected to Buxtehude via three bus routes (2035, 2036, 2711). In addition, there is school traffic to the schools in Wiegersen, Harsefeld and Apensen.

Personalities associated with the community
- Carl Friedrich Gauß was to measure the Kingdom of Hanover from 1821 . With the help of the Sauensieker Litberg he was able to overcome the problems that arose in the north German lowlands (lack of landscape surveys). This Gaussian land survey was later documented on the reverse of the fourth series of the 10 D-Mark note.
