Wiegersen is part of the Sauensiek municipality in Lower Saxony and is located in the south of the Stade district in the Apensen municipality .
geography
Wiegersen is known for its extensive forest areas (650 ha), which almost completely surround the village. The Ramme , a small stream that flows into the Oste in the further course , also flows through the Wiegerser Forst . Rare plant and animal species such as liverwort , sundew and the adder can be found here .
history
Origin of the place name
The word ending "sen" comes from Husen = house, this indicates the Franconian period (from the year 800). The first written mention, however, is not until 1500.
Borrel
Borrel is a former village in the immediate vicinity of Wiegersen. Today only the street name Borrel in Wiegersen and the former village well reminds of the small town. This can be found in a forest in the direction of Revenahe .
Manor
The townscape of Wiegersen is characterized by the brick wall of the former Wiegersen manor , which was completely renovated in 2003. In the manor house one finds today Yoga -Zentrum.
Village with the largest number of children
Wiegersen became known nationwide in the 1960s, as it was called the village with the largest number of children in the Federal Republic. Over 44 percent of the population was under 16 in 1967. This was considered a new peak.
Incorporation
On July 1, 1972 Wiegersen was incorporated into the Sauensiek community.
Culture / events
The cultural life in Wiegersen takes place in the many clubs. A number of events are organized by the volunteer fire brigade . So z. B. the annual Easter fire , the people's and fire brigade march, the autumn running lanterns and much more. The school association also invites the people of Wiegers to many public events during the year, such as B. the book flea market. The club life is completed by the gymnastics club, the sponsoring association Sport Wiegersen and numerous groups. Another big event is the annual Montgolfiade on the outskirts of Wiegersen. Balloonists from all over Germany and other European countries will then be welcomed in Wiegersen.
tourism
The Wiegerser Forst and the surrounding moorland are ideal for long walks or bike rides. Quite a few explore the landscape with the trendy sport of Nordic walking . There are holiday apartments and a café on site. A hotel and a restaurant can be found in the neighboring village of Sauensiek , as can the natural swimming pool , which is maintained by the Kornscheune association.
Sports
With the opening of the sports hall , sporting life in Wiegersen was fundamentally revitalized. The sports hall is maintained by the Sport Wiegersen association. In the hall not only finds school sports of primary school instead, but many sports groups have here their homeland. The offer includes gymnastics , floorball , soccer or children's gymnastics . The Gymnastikverein Wiegersen with its departments gymnastics, step aerobics, children's gymnastics, volleyball and soccer tennis train in the cheapest sports hall in northern Germany.

Wiegersen is the location of a primary school that is responsible for the children of the Sauensiek community . The secondary and secondary school can be attended in Apensen , the grammar school in Harsefeld . There are two kindergartens in the neighboring villages of Sauensiek and Revenahe .

Wiegersen can be reached via Kreisstraße 53, which leads from Sauensiek via Wiegersen to Harsefeld . In Revenahe-Kammerbusch there is a connection to the highway 127 from Zeven to Buxtehude. In Sauensiek there is a connection to the country road 130 which leads to Sittensen on the federal motorway 1 (A 1).
Public transport
The village of Wiegersen can be reached by buses from the Kraftverkehrsgesellschaft Stade (KVG) (2034, 2035, 2711) and the Elbe-Weser Railways and Transport Company (EVB) (2401). Wiegersen is in the tariff area of the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund . The nearest train station is in Apensen (Buxtehude-Bremerhaven line). However, the train station in Buxtehude is of much greater importance as a traffic junction ( S-Bahn , regional trains), so that the bus routes are also directed towards the Buxtehude train station.
