Wiegersen is part of the Sauensiek municipality in Lower Saxony and is located in the south of the Stade district in the Apensen municipality .

Wiegersen is known for its extensive forest areas (650 ha), which almost completely surround the village. The Ramme , a small stream that flows into the Oste in the further course , also flows through the Wiegerser Forst . Rare plant and animal species such as liverwort , sundew and the adder can be found here .

history

Origin of the place name

The word ending "sen" comes from Husen = house, this indicates the Franconian period (from the year 800). The first written mention, however, is not until 1500.

Borrel

Borrel is a former village in the immediate vicinity of Wiegersen. Today only the street name Borrel in Wiegersen and the former village well reminds of the small town. This can be found in a forest in the direction of Revenahe .
