The joint municipality Apensen is a joint municipality in the district of Stade in the north of Lower Saxony . Three municipalities have come together in it to carry out their administrative business. The administrative seat of the joint municipality is in Apensen .

The combined community consists of the three member communities Apensen , Beckdorf and Sauensiek .

history

At the end of 1997, the joint municipality of Apensen was the first municipality in the Stade district to apply the new municipal constitution and elected a full-time joint municipality mayor.

Joint council

The council of the joint municipality Apensen consists of 22 councilors and councilors. This is the specified number for a municipality with a population between 8,001 and 9,000. The 22 council members are elected for five years each by local elections. The current term of office began on November 1, 2011 and ends on October 31, 2016.

The full-time Mayor of the Joint Community, Petra Beckmann-Frelock (UWA), is also entitled to vote in the Council of the Joint Community.

Joint mayor of the municipality

The full-time mayor of Apensen is Petra Beckmann-Frelock (UWA). In the last election in 2019, she was elected with 52.76% of the vote.

Partner communities

Since 1973, the municipality of Apensen has established a partnership with the French municipality of Ploërmel / Bretagne . The relationship between the two municipalities was formalized by a contract signed in 1980. In 1990 the places Dittmannsdorf and Witzschdorf in the municipality of Gornau in Saxony were included for the first time. This partnership has also been contractually established since 2003. Also Kolbuszowa in Poland is on friendly terms with Apensen.

Economy and Infrastructure

education

In Apensen there is a primary school as well as a new school center ( Hauptschule and Realschule ) which was inaugurated in 2001 and which is now used as a secondary school. The Apensen elementary school is attended by the children from Apensen and Beckdorf. And in Wiegersen there is the elementary school for the southern part of the integrated community. Schoolchildren attending grammar school either go to Buxtehude to the grammar school Buxtehude Süd or to Harsefeld . In addition, there has been a free Waldorf school there since 2012.
