Kevin Houben

Kevin Houben (* 1977 in Bree , Belgium ) is a Belgian composer and conductor in the field of brass music .

Houben has been involved with music from an early age. After finishing school in Bree, Flanders , he went to the Lemmens Institute in Leuven ; there he obtained a degree in trumpet . He also specialized in chamber music and won a first prize in this field. He received a further diploma in wind orchestra direction. He also studied composition with Jan Van der Roost and won first prize in arrangement with Kristien de Smet . Then Houben deepened his knowledge in counterpoint with Jan Hadermann and in wind orchestra direction with Edmond Saveniers .

Kevin Houben conducts various ensembles and works as a freelance musician in professional ensembles and orchestras. Among other things, he conducted the symphonic wind orchestra of the Westerwald District Music Association with musicians such as Michael Müller, La Köhler and Christopher Schmidt. Since 2002 he has been teaching at the North Limburg Music Academy.
