Jan Van der Roost

Jan Frans Joseph Van der Roost (born March 1, 1956 in Duffel , Belgium ) is a Belgian composer and conductor in the field of brass music .

He studied trombone , music history and music education at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven and graduated with a diploma in composition , which he studied alongside conducting at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent , Belgium .

Jan Van der Roost teaches at the Lemmens Institute, is a conductor and visiting professor at the Shobi Institute of Music in Tokyo and at the University of Arts in Nagoya , Japan . He composes for wind orchestra , brass band , wind quartet , choir , piano , guitar , string orchestra and symphony orchestra .
