Jan Hadermann
Jan Hadermann (born March 23, 1952 in Reet near Antwerp in Belgium ) is a Belgian composer , professor and conductor .
Life
His father played the violin and gave him his first music lessons. At the Music Academy of Hemiksem , Belgium, he deepened his knowledge with Marcel Slootmakers and studied piano with Liliane Esser Herchuelz . He then studied at the Lemmensinstitut in Mechelen and later in Löwen under Lode Dieltiens' music theory, Frans Geysen harmonics , Jos van Looy counterpoint and fugue and Matthy Niël composition . There he graduated in 1974 with a diploma in composition and music education . He completed his studies with the composer Willem Kersters at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Music in Antwerp.
Since 1977 he has been a lecturer in counterpoint, fugue and electronic music composition at the Lemmesninstitut in Leuven , Belgium and since 1979 lecturer in harmony and composition at the Koninklijke Beiaardschool "Jef Denyn" (school for tower carillon) in Mechelen , Belgium. Since 1994 he has been visiting lecturer for wind orchestra direction (theory) at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Music in Antwerp.
As a composer he writes works for symphonic orchestra, wind orchestra, piano, choir and chamber music. In 1993 he received the SABAM Prize for Wind Orchestra.
