Ruschwedel is a district of the borough Harsefeld in Lower Saxony and is situated in the south of the district Stade . Ruschwedel has about 500 inhabitants.

Ruschwedel is located on the Stader Geest on the right bank of the Steinbeck , a tributary of the Aue .

Neighboring towns are Bliedersdorf and Rutenbeck in the north, Grundoldendorf in the northeast, Apensen in the southeast, Revenahe-Kammerbusch , Weißenfelde and Griemshorst in the southwest, Harsefeld in the west and Issendorf in the northwest.

history

Administrative history

During the French period , Ruschwedel belonged to Mairie Bliedersdorf in the canton of Horneburg in the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1810/11 , from 1811 to 1814, Ruschwedel then belonged directly to the French Empire under Napoleon and thus to Mairie Horneburg in the canton of Horneburg. With the end of the French era, the old status returned.

Before 1852, Ruschwedel belonged to the Delm court and from 1852 to 1859 it was part of the Horneburg office, which became part of the Harsefeld office in 1859 . After 1885 Ruschwedel belonged to the Stade district . From this, the current district of Stade emerged in 1932 .

From 1967 to 1972 Ruschwedel formed the first joint community of Harsefeld with Issendorf and Harsefeld . As part of the regional reform , Ruschwedel was incorporated into Harsefeld on July 1, 1972.

Ruschwedel is evangelical-Lutheran . Although Ruschwedel belongs to the Harsefeld patch, the village is still part of the Apensen parish for historical reasons .

For the few Catholics , the St. Michael's Church in Harsefeld responsible, since 1 September 2010 on the church of the Assumption in Buxtehude belongs.

Ruschwedel has its own cemetery in the south of the village.

Today Ruschwedel is best known for SV Ruschwedel , whose first men's team plays in the 2nd Bundesliga fistball (North).

Economy and Infrastructure

Milk production traditionally played a major economic role in the village, whose existence has been documented since the 17th century. Nowadays, however, there is only one farm that mostly lives off it.

Ruschwedel is connected to Harsefeld and Apensen via Kreisstraße 49 and has a stop on the Bremerhaven – Buxtehude railway line , which is currently operated by EVB . This railway line connects the place with Bremervörde , Harsefeld , Apensen and via Buxtehude with Hamburg .

In addition to a village community center, there is a children's play area and a small swimming pool. There is also a petting zoo on site.
