Delm

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Delm (also: on the Delm ) was a historical judicial district around the place Apensen , which existed from the Middle Ages until 1852.

Catchment area

The Delmer judicial district stretched along the Este from the edge of the Geest via Beckdorf to Wiegersen and Sauensiek . In 1647, in addition to the places that are now the joint municipality of Apensen, the places Ottensen , Ruschwedel , Hedendorf , Nottensdorf and Bliedersdorf belonged to the court on the Delm. Sauensiek, like Bliedersdorf (together with Nottensdorf), temporarily formed its own court. The place of execution was in Apensen and has been given the name Galgenberg .

The name "Delm" or "on the Delm" appears for the first time in 1432 as uppe deme delve . In the Vörder Register of 1500, upp dem delme is used. "Uppe deme delve" is Low German for "am Graben" (see Delf ) and was a place name for the court. The pronunciation has slipped into "on the Delm" while the original meaning has been lost.

history

The Apenser coat of arms, with armored arm and sword, is reminiscent of the seal of the court on the Delm

As early as 1197, the Lords of Bliedersdorf sat here before a court that, as a count's court, is not to be equated with the Gogericht on the Delm.

The first written mention of the court took place in 1432; the court certainly existed long before that. In a damage list of the Horneburg feud , the court is called uppe deme delve . At this time, the von Borch , who inherited the von Bliedersdorf, have jurisdiction as bailiffs . The von Borch family kept them until their sex died out around 1500, but further families, especially the von Düring family , were added through marriage and inheritance .

On August 7, 1852, the Delm court was assigned to the Buxtehude district court. Three members of the von Düring family and the owner of the Wiegersen estate , Eduard von Kielmansegg , were named as the last owners of the court .

The old meeting house of the count and the estate of the subordinate, who was responsible as court clerk, are still preserved in Apensen. The seal of the court has been preserved in the Apens coat of arms. It shows an armored arm holding a sword. The court flag that was raised on court days shows the same motif.

right

In the beginning, the court on the Delm had high jurisdiction and could even impose the death penalty . In the course of time the high jurisdiction was handed over to the sovereign and the court only had the lower jurisdiction . The court became a patrimonial court in which the local nobles themselves held the court. From 1753, however, following the introduction of the lower court order, lawyers who studied law had to take over jurisdiction by the order of the Duchy of Bremen-Verden .
