location
The nature reserve is located in the Hohe Schwabenalb natural area and lies between Truchtelfingen and Bitz . It is completely surrounded by conservation area no. 4.17.001 Albstadt- Bitz .
Protection purpose
According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation of a juniper heather and its transition to the forest with solitary conifers and the largest occurrence of the yellow gentian in the Zollernalb district as well as numerous other protected plants.
Flora and fauna
The massive appearance of the yellow gentian goes back to an action by the Swabian Homeland Association , which scattered seeds here in 1930. Another special feature is the occurrence of the green hollow tongue orchid . Noteworthy is the large population of grasshopper wart-biter .
