The Scharlenbachtal-Hofwald area is a nature reserve in the area of ​​the city of Burladingen in the Zollernalb district that was designated by the Tübingen regional council on April 10, 2002 by ordinance .

location

The Scharlenbachtal-Hofwald nature reserve is located west of the Burladingen district of Starzeln in the valley of the Scharlenbach and Kleintälebach . The area belongs to the natural area Hohe Schwabenalb .

Landscape character

The Scharlenbachtal opens to the east to the Starzeltal. On the valley slopes there are large areas of poor grass, some with fruit trees that are used for scattered fruit; further to the east, the poor grass on the more level areas is replaced by lean, flat hay meadows. The Hofwald is located on the left, south-facing, very steep valley flank of the Kleintälebach, a tributary of the Scharlenbach. It is a near-natural slope debris forest.

Flora and fauna

Numerous rare and protected plant species can be found in the area, including the common grass lily , Davall's sedge , the yellow asparagus pea , the German gorse , the spherical devil's claw , the flesh-colored orchid , the bulbous thistle , the spring gentian and Mayer's summer arum .

Notable animal species in the area are the elegans ram , the mountain vetch ram , the narrow diaper snail , the grass snake and the fire salamander .

Contiguous protected areas

The nature reserve is part of the FFH area Reichenbach and Killertal between Hechingen and Burladingen and the bird protection area Südwestalb and Upper Danube Valley . In the north, west and south it is enclosed by the nature reserve Oberes Starzeltal and Zollerberg .
