The Braunhartsberg nature reserve is located in the city of Albstadt in the Zollernalb district in Baden-Württemberg .

location

The area is located on the western slope of the 969 meter high Braunhardsberg not far southwest of the Tailfingen district , south of the Langenwand residential area. The L 442 state road runs to the north and the L 360 to the east. The Albstadt-Bitz landscape protection area borders directly to the east .

The area naturally belongs to the High Swabian Jura and is part of the geological unit of the Lacunosam in the Upper Jura.

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is "the preservation of the previously extensively used meadows and juniper heather areas with their protected orchids and their rich flora"

Landscape character

The area comprises a grassland biotope complex with individual juniper bushes and part of a poor, lowland hay meadow. In the north there is a large willow beech directly on the border of the area.

Flora and fauna

The area is characterized by a special biodiversity. Among other things, the blue white dagger , the wart bite and the spring gentian can be found here.
