Näherberg is a nature reserve designated by the Tübingen regional council of June 30, 1989 with the number 4.160.

location

The nature reserve is located in the Mittlere Kuppenalb natural area and is around 1500 meters southwest of Ringingen . The area is part of the FFH area No. 7620-311 Reichenbach and Killertal between Hechingen and Burladingen and it is completely surrounded by the landscape protection area No. 4.17.048 Oberes Starzeltal and Zollerberg . The 876 m high mountain in the protected area must not be confused with the 877.5 m high mountain, which is located immediately southeast of Ringingen and on which the Hohenringingen ruins are located.

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation, maintenance and further development of a hilltop typical of the Swabian Alb landscape. In particular, the high-quality juniper heath , which characterizes the landscape, and the adjacent forest areas with their equally rich and sometimes endangered flora are to be protected .

Flora and fauna

The biodiversity of the protected area is evident in the 187 plant and 87 animal species found here so far. Conspicuous flowering plants include a. Orchids and gentians. Rare bird species such as quail and sparrowhawk breed in the area .
