Stettener Weinberg is a nature reserve designated by the Tübingen Regional Council of September 14, 1990 with the number 4.173.

location

The nature reserve is located in the natural area of ​​the southwestern Alb foreland . It borders the Stetten district of the city of Haigerloch to the east . It is part of the FFH area No. 7619-311 areas between Bisingen, Haigerloch and Rosenfeld .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation of a diversely structured part of the landscape of the central Eyach valley with the extensive agricultural use associated with it as a habitat for endangered and protected animal and plant species and as a cultural and historical relic. Of particular ecological and aesthetic importance are:

  • the semi-arid grasslands and juniper heaths;
  • the fens and spring swamps;
  • the forest fringes;
  • the field hedges and single trees.

Flora and fauna

191 plant and 45 bird species were counted in the area. Five endangered plant species have been found in the source swamp areas of the reserve: swamp stendrums , swamp trident , broad-leaved cottongrass , Davall's sedge and distant sedge . The bee ragwort occurs in the semi-arid grasslands of the area . The following have been observed in the hedges and bushes of the juniper heather: red kite , whinchat , woodlark and red- backed shrike .
