The area Irrenberg dog back is a Regulation on 16 January 2002 of the Regional Council Tübingen been instructed Nature Reserve (NSG number 4303) in the area of the cities Albstadt and Balingen as well as the community Bisingen in Zollernalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg in Germany .

The approximately 128 hectare Irrenberg-Hundsücken nature reserve is part of the natural area of the High Swabian Jura and the southwestern Alb foreland in the area of the Irrenberg and Hundsücken mountains . It lies at an altitude of 700 to 930 m above sea level. NN and includes parts of the Alb plateau, slopes of the Albtrauf and the Roschbachtal and lies within the districts of Pfeffingen (to Albstadt), Streichen , Zillhausen (both to Balingen) and Bisingen and Thanheim (both to Bisingen). Within the cadastral maps of this area is the bathes Irrenberg (to Pfeffingen), Behind the mountain , Uchental (both to strike), width Wasen , Hörnle , Schiebelen , nice stockpile , Sießenwiese , Talen , deep meadow , Uchental (all to Zillhausen), Beck climbing , Hundsrücken (both to Bisingen), Jägerweg and Kohlgrube (both to Thanheim).
Protection purpose
Essential protective purpose is the preservation, development and maintenance of a diverse structured area as a natural habitat for the extinction of endangered species, endangered and protected animal and plant species.
Of particular ecological importance are the field trees, groups of trees and individual trees, near-natural flowing waters , perennial corridors, small sedge areas , large sedge areas , reed beds , lime pioneer lawns, lime lean lawns, extensively used hay meadows of dry and humid conditions, bushes, including their dry and humid orchid areas - Beech forests , ravine, mixed slope and riparian forests and woodruff beech forests.

- Real whitebeam ( Sorbus aria ), a tree up to 15 meters high from the rose family
- Yellow gentian ( Gentiana lutea ), a representative of the gentian family
- Pasque Flower or Pasque Flower ( Pulsatilla vulgaris ), from the buttercup family
- Narcissus anemone ( Anemone narcissiflora ), also mountain cockerel , also a buttercup plant
