Eselmühle is a nature reserve designated by the Tübingen Regional Council of October 22, 2002 with the number 4,307.
location
The nature reserve is located in the Hohe Schwabenalb natural area and is about two kilometers northwest of Straßberg in the Schmiechatal . The area is part of FFH area No. 7820-341 Schmeietal .
Protection purpose
According to the ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation of a diversely structured area with its mosaic of typical landscape and culturally-historically significant biotopes as a result of climatic, geomorphological and usage-historical conditions
- Habitat and retreat for endangered, endangered and protected animal and plant species,
- Part of the landscape of particular scenic beauty,
- important component in the local biotope network of the Schmiecha / Schmeiental. Special protection purpose is in detail:
- for the entire area, the preservation of the value-determining diversity of locations and structures and protection against impairments,
- for the sedge reeds, tall herbaceous vegetation and reed stands, the maintenance, care and protection against impairment,
- further extensive use and maintenance as hay meadows for grassland areas of different moisture levels,
- for the entire area of protection against encroachment, intensification of use and conversion,
- for the brooks and ditches with their tall herbaceous and wooded borders the protection against wood advertising, hydraulic engineering interventions, barriers, deposits and ruderalization and the promotion of the natural river dynamics .
Flora and fauna
Spatula-leaved ragwort and blue sky ladder thrive in the reserve . From the butterfly fauna, the endangered species meadowsweet mother-of-pearl , valerian-piebald , purple-gold-fire -butterfly and ring-mother-of-pearl should be emphasized. Among the dragonfly species, the banded demoiselle must be mentioned and the yellow-bellied toad is found in the ponds of the area .
