Riedbachtal is a nature reserve designated by the Tübingen Regional Council of December 3, 1986 with the number 4.136.

location

The nature reserve is located in the south-western Alb foreland and is northeast of Dormettingen . It is part of the FFH area No. 7718-341 Kleiner Heuberg and Albvorland near Balingen .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation of the diverse orchards and hedgerows as a valuable habitat for numerous animal and plant species threatened with extinction, in particular highly endangered bird species that no longer occur in the otherwise cleared fields in the area.

fauna

The area impresses with its wealth of rare bird species such as quail , corncrake , great gray shrike , red-backed shrike and whinchat . Including the migrants , 110 bird species have been identified in the Riedbachtal.
