history
Dormettingen was first mentioned in a document in 786. Count Gerold , brother-in-law of Charlemagne , donated goods from the village of Toromoatingen to the St. Gallen monastery . In 793 the name Tormuotinga and 1056 Dormutingan appeared. Other owners of farms during this time were the Reichenau Monastery , the St. Georgen Monastery and the Rottenmünster Monastery (now Vinzenz von Paul Hospital) in Rottweil . In 1806/07 the village was subordinated to the Württemberg Oberamt Balingen and in 1810 to the Oberamt Spaichingen . To top Rottweil came Dormettingen 1842 and district Balingen finally in 1938th
In 1944, sub-camps of the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp were set up as part of the “ Operation Desert ” to extract oil from oil shale as part of the mineral oil security plan (see also Bisingen concentration camp ). Up to 3,000 prisoners had to do forced labor under catastrophic conditions , in which many died. A grave with a memorial stone in the local cemetery commemorates an unknown number of concentration camp inmates who died .
Since the district reform in 1973, Dormettingen has been part of the Zollernalb district.
