Dautmergen is a municipality in Zollernalbkreis in Baden-Wuerttemberg ( Germany ). Apart from the village of the same name, no other places belong to the municipality of Dautmergen. Dautmergen is the smallest municipality in the Zollernalb district by population.

Dautmergen is located in the western foreland of the Swabian Alb . The Schömberger Schischemtalsperre lies above the village . The stealth flows through the community .

Historical geography

In the Schischemtal there was probably a place called Juchhausen, which was first mentioned in 793 as Juchhusa and was probably lost in the 13th century.

history

Early history

Hard coal broken in Dautmergen was polished into a gemstone and set in silver and traded as a gagat . Gaga bracelets were already in use in Dautmergen in the Hallstatt period .

Enterprise desert

In 1944, sub-camps of the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp were set up as part of the “ Operation Desert ” in order to extract oil from oil shale as part of the mineral oil security plan (see also Bisingen concentration camp ). Sergeant Erwin Dold , who was seconded to Dautmergen as camp commandant in the autumn of 1944, was the only concentration camp commandant to be acquitted of proven innocence after the Second World War.
