The Scheibhalden is a nature reserve in the area of ​​the city of Meßstetten in the Zollernalb district , which was declared by the Tübingen regional council on June 28, 1985 by ordinance .

location

The Scheibhalden nature reserve is located east of the Oberdigisheim district of Meßstetten . The area belongs to the natural area Hohe Schwabenalb . The county road 7146 cuts through the area.

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose is "the preservation of the rich flora with its protected orchids and its species-rich fungal flora, furthermore the preservation of the landscape, which is determined here by the relatively rich tree population of the juniper-forch heather and the hardwood-juniper heather with the typical willow trees."

Landscape character

The nature reserve is located on a south-west exposed slope. The non-forested areas are characterized by grasslands and poor, lowland hay meadows with individual trees. There is a wooded area to the west.

Flora and fauna

Numerous rare and protected plant species grow in the reserve, including the spring gentian , the fly ragwort , the yellow asparagus pea , the pasque flower , the bedstraw , the bulbous thistle and the meadowsweet . Numerous butterfly species, such as the sky Blue Bluebird , the Fiery fritillary , the pearl-bordered fritillary , the Eastern fritillary , the purple-edged copper and Esparsetten-Bluebird are detected in the area.

Contiguous protected areas

The nature reserve is part of the FFH area Ostlicher Großer Heuberg . The Großer Heuberg nature reserve connects to the west and east .
