The Kugelwäldle is a nature reserve in the area of ​​the city of Albstadt in the Zollernalbkreis that was designated by the Tübingen regional council on November 24, 1980 by ordinance .

location

The Kugelwäldle is located about 2.2 kilometers west of the Truchtelfingen district and 1.6 kilometers east of the Margrethausen district . The area belongs to the natural area Hohe Schwabenalb .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is “the preservation of the striking mountain cone with its rich and diverse occurrence of rare plant species”.

Landscape character

The area is a completely wooded witness mountain, which is 930  m above sea level. NN rises above the area. It is dominated by pine and spruce forests that were reforested on former juniper heaths. Only the top is covered by a near-natural beech forest.

Flora and fauna

Notable species in the area are the white forest hyacinth , the spotted orchid and the red forest bird .
