The Dobelwiesen are a nature reserve in the area of the city of Albstadt in the Zollernalbkreis that was declared by the Tübingen regional council on November 24, 1980 by ordinance .

location

The Dobelwiesen nature reserve is located about one kilometer south of the Albstadt district of Laufen an der Eyach in Tobeltal on the edge of the Hohe Schwabenalb natural area .

The nature reserve is part of the FFH area Östlicher Großer Heuberg and is completely enclosed by the Albstadt-Bitz nature reserve .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is "the preservation of the rare calcareous flat moor on the source horizon of the upper brown Jura with its plant and animal communities"

Landscape character

Contrary to what the name suggests, the nature reserve is largely forested. After the abandonment of agricultural use, the slope was reforested with spruce. The area lies at the foot of the Albtraufs on the water-retaining clay layers of the Middle Jurassic. In the west there are two open areas, which are referred to as the habitat type limestone bog. There are numerous spring outlets, spring channels and pools in the forest. The area is drained via the Steinbach , which, with its gorge-like valley, forms the eastern boundary of the area.

Flora and fauna

Notable species in the area include Davalls Sedge , the sump Stendelwurz , the marsh orchid , the cup Sims lily , the sump heart sheet and a plurality of sedges.
