history

The Zellerhornwiese was originally used as a wooden meadow from Onstmettingen . The nature reserve was designated on February 14, 1950 by an order from the Ministry of Culture of the State of Württemberg-Hohenzollern , which was responsible at the time and which was both the highest and highest nature conservation authority. It is the oldest nature reserve in what is now the Zollernalb district.

Flora and fauna

On the Zellerhornwiese there are grassland communities of all kinds. The spectrum ranges from the montane golden oat meadow to blue-grass-lime grasslands. The very high-quality flora includes, among others, the mountain cockerel , the Alsatian summer arum , the leafy lice herb , the fragrant handelwort and the globe flower .

Contiguous protected areas

The nature reserve is part of the FFH area around Albstadt and the bird sanctuary Südwestalb and Oberes Donautal . It is enclosed by the landscape protection areas of Oberes Starzeltal and Zollerberg and Albstadt-Bitz .
