The Tief Weg is a nature reserve designated by ordinance on January 29, 1992 by the Tübingen regional council in the area of the municipality of Ratshausen in the Zollernalb district .

location

The Tiefer Weg nature reserve is located about 1.3 kilometers east of the center of Ratshausen at the foot of the Plettenberg . It belongs to the natural area Hohe Schwabenalb .

The nature reserve is part of the bird sanctuary Südwestalb and Upper Danube Valley .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose according to the Protected Area Ordinance "... is the preservation, care and improvement of a diversely structured part of the landscape on the lower slope of the Plettenberg with the associated extensive agricultural and forestry use as a habitat for endangered and protected plant and animal species as well as a cultural and historical relic." Of particular importance here are the semi-arid grasslands, wet meadows, bushes and individual trees, the fringing communities, the forests and small bodies of water.

Landscape character

The area is characterized by a small-scale alternation of wet and dry biotopes in a very small space. The debris in the subsoil with partly large stone blocks give the area an irregular appearance.

Flora and fauna

Notable species in the area include the bumblebee ragwort , the flesh-colored orchid , the real marshwort , the grape hyacinth , the bee ragwurz , the fly ragwort and the stately orchid .
